P.A.F. (095) - SPIDER-BOY 1 (AMALGAM)

Reactivamos los P.A.F. de la Serie 1 de Spider-Man, porque ya estamos muy cerquita de completar los cien modelos, y ya habiendo definido cuáles versiones de Spidey haremos para cerrar esta primer serie, que no será ninguna revelación muy descabellada, sino apenas versiones que son infaltables en el lore del arácnido, esta vez les traemos esta maravilla creada en los 90´s, en aquellas épocas en las que las dos más grandes compañías de comic del mundo podían darse el lujo de encarar proyectos curiosos y arriesgados en conjunto, como fue el Universo Amalgam, donde los héroes más significativos de ambas compañías se fusionaban, de allí proviene este genial Spider-Boy.

 Spider-Boy (Pete Ross) es la amalgama de Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) de Marvel Comics y Superboy (DC Comics).

Un intento del Proyecto Cadmus de crear un clon adulto de Super-Soldado con la capacidad de controlar la gravedad fue saboteado. El genetista e investigador de clonación que diseñó el clon, Peter Parker, murió durante la explosión "accidental" del laboratorio causada por Kenny Gargan. El clon se despertó prematuramente a una edad mucho más temprana y emergió de los escombros. El joven muchacho inmediatamente corrió por una pared confundido. El jefe del proyecto, Thunderbolt Ross, sintiendo pena por el clon y responsable de su bienestar, lo adoptó legalmente (dándole al niño el apellido Ross) y lo llamó Pete (en honor a su creador).

Pete y su "tío Gen" eran una familia feliz hasta que el general Ross fue asesinado por un asaltante. Pete juró que se enfrentaría al peligro y se convertiría en el centro de atención para que los criminales se centraran en él y no en personas inocentes, ya que sintió que lo habían descartado como un niño durante el incidente. Inspirado por su habilidad similar a una araña para caminar por las paredes, diseñó un disfraz y se llamó Spider-Boy.

Spider-Boy luego regresó al Proyecto Cadmus y recibió un "lanzador de telarañas", una pistola especial que dispara hebras de telaraña sintética. Como agente de Cadmus, Spider-Boy fue asignado para luchar contra monstruosidades genéticas. Pero como Pete Ross, fue fotógrafo del sórdido tabloide Daily Bugle, tomando fotos incriminatorias de sí mismo con atractivas superheroínas, habiéndose convertido en un fenómeno cultural pop importante después de su debut.

Spider-Boy comenzó a enfrentarse a muchos villanos, como King Lizard, Bizarnage, Venom Stinger, Arachno (aunque eventualmente se convirtió en un antivillano), Recluse e incluso Kenny Gargan (que se había convertido en Scorpi-Con). Sin embargo, su mayor desafío fue conseguir una cita a ciegas con la Reina Insecto. Sorprendentemente, los dos se llevaron bien y más tarde se comprometieron. Según Spider-Boy 2099, la vida de Spider-Boy nunca volvería a ser la misma después de casarse con la Reina Insecto.

We reactivate the P.A.F. of Series 1 of Spider-Man, because we are already very close to completing the hundred models, and having already defined which versions of Spidey we will make to close this first series, which will not be a very crazy revelation, but just versions that are inevitable in the lore of the arachnid, this time we bring you this marvel created in the 90's, in those times when the two largest comic companies in the world could afford to undertake curious and risky together, as was the Amalgam Universe, where the most significant heroes of both companies merged, that's where this great Spider-Boy comes from.

Spider-Boy (Pete Ross) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) and DC Comics' Superboy.

An attempt by Project Cadmus to create an adult clone of Super-Soldier with the ability to control gravity was sabotaged. The geneticist and cloning researcher who engineered the clone, Peter Parker, was killed during the "accidental" lab explosion caused by Kenny Gargan. The clone awakened prematurely at a much younger age and emerged from the wreckage. The young boy immediately ran up a wall in confusion. The head of the project, Thunderbolt Ross, feeling sorry for the clone and responsible for his welfare, legally adopted him (giving the boy the last name of Ross) and named him Pete (after his creator).

Pete and his "Uncle Gen" were a happy family until General Ross was killed by a mugger. Pete swore that he would face danger and make himself the center of attention so criminals would focus on him and not innocent people, as he felt he had been dismissed as just a boy during the incident. Inspired by his spider-like ability to walk on walls, he fashioned a costume and called himself Spider-Boy.

Spider-Boy later returned to Project Cadmus and is given a "web-shooter", a special pistol that fires strands of synthetic webbing. As a Cadmus agent, Spider-Boy was assigned to battle genetic monstrosities. But as Pete Ross, he was a photographer for the sleazy tabloid the Daily Bugle, taking incriminating photos of himself with attractive super-heroines, having become a major pop cultural phenomenon after his debut.

Spider-Boy began facing many villains, such as King Lizard, Bizarnage, Venom Stinger, Arachno (though he eventually became an anti-villain), Recluse, and even Kenny Gargan (who had become Scorpi-Con). However, his biggest challenge was getting set up on a blind date with the Insect Queen. Surprisingly, the two hit it off and later got engaged. According to Spider-Boy 2099, Spider-Boy's life would never be the same after he married Insect Queen.

P.A.F. - (080) - SPIDER-BOY (II) - BAILEY...

Ok, we have a cool one. Super new.

Recently in the Spider-Man comics, in the End of the Spider-verse events, by defeating Shathra, the original Spider-Man universe is restored on Earth 616, and with this, this new character appears, alluding to having been the sidekick to Peter and even Miles for quite a while, though no one recognizes or remembers him, which makes perfect sense since the character DID NOT exist.

We would be witnessing a rewriting of canonical reality, in which we will most likely be presented with this character with a flashback story where they show us since when he is supposed to exist, and why he has been erased from continuity and from the memory of Peter, Miles, and everyone else.

From how the cards have been played, there are few chances that this Spider-Boy (the second, because during the 90s, we already had a character called Spider-Boy in the alternate reality of the Amalgam Universe, where Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) and Super Boy (Connor Kent) had merged) belongs to an alternative universe, also knowing that Marvel has used this strategy on at least two occasions before (Sentry, Blue Marvel), it is almost certain that they will seek to expand, and logically capitalize on this curious "origin" that was taken out of the galley.

In any case, without wasting any time, we take advantage of the fact that we already have very good images of the design of this little boy's suit and we get down to work to design the P.A.F. of this Bailey guy (we still don't know his last name, race, history, age, nothing).  Ok, tenemos uno fresquito fresquito. Super nuevo. 

Recientemente en los comics de Spider-Man, en los eventos de End of the Spider-verse, al derrotar a Shathra, se restaura el universo original de Spider-Man en la Tierra 616, y con esto, aparece este nuevo personaje, aludiendo haber sido el sidekick de Peter e incluso Miles por un buen tiempo, aunque nadie lo reconoce o recuerda, lo cual tiene todo el sentido ya que el personaje NO existía. 

Estaríamos presenciando una reescritura de la realidad canónica, en la que muy probablemente nos presenten a este personaje con una historia en retrospectiva donde nos muestren desde cuándo se supone que existe, y el porqué de que haya sido borrado de la continuidad y de la memoria de Peter, Miles, y todos los demás. 

Por como han sido jugadas las cartas, pocas son las probabilidades de que este Spider-Boy (el segundo, porque durante la década del 90, ya tuvimos un personaje llamado Spider-Boy en la realidad alternativa del Universo Amalgam, donde se habían fusionado Spider-Man (Ben Reilly y Super Boy (Connor Kent)) pertenezca a un universo alternativo, sabiendo además que Marvel ha empleado esta estrategia en por lo menos dos ocasiones anteriormente (Sentry, Blue Marvel), es casi seguro que buscarán ampliar, y lógicamente capitalizar en este curioso "origen" que se sacaron de la galera. 

En todo caso, sin perder tiempo alguno, aprovechamos que ya tenemos muy buenas imágenes del diseño del traje de este muchachito y nos ponemos manos a la obra para diseñar el Modelo P.A.F. de este tal Bailey (no conocemos aún su apellido, raza, historia, edad, nada). Esperamos que les guste y lo puedan aprovechar, pronto subiremos la imagen del modelo de prueba armado.
